Updates

If you use Mas90, and are concerned that Windows update will be giving you Service Pack 2 (SP2) for Windows XP before you want it, there is a tool now available from Microsoft that will allow you to block that upgrade for up to four months.  Click here for the details (and they are many!  Just work your way all the way through the article and the Microsoft link).

I have begun (barely) my testing of SP2, and have not found any problems in Mas90 yet - but I haven't gone very far yet, either.  The applications I normally use are all working fine at this point.

Updates

If you use Mas90, Best Software does not recommend moving to Service Pack 2 of Windows XP right now.  They are working on finishing the testing, but haven't yet.  If you are using Windows XP and have the Automatic Updates turned on, you will get Service Pack 2 automatically.  Call someone to find out how to temporarily shut this off.  I am also running some tests in the office this week, to see if anything untoward happens, and will let you know here how it goes.

Adaware has just released a new version of their spyware-catching software, and it is looking really good!  It takes longer to run now, but it is catching some problem bugs that I was having to rip out manually before.  When the install runs, you will be asked if you want to remove the old software.  Say "yes" to this one.  Follow the link to the left to download and run this new software.
